Introduction to Inquiry-Based Learning(IBL)
Welcome to the course!
IBL is an educational approach that centres on student curiosity and encourages active exploration and questioning. It empowers learners to take ownership of their learning, fostering critical thinking, and leading to deeper understanding. Over the next 20 hours, divided into four focused modules, you will:
Module 1: Understanding Inquiry-Based Learning: Explore the underlying principles of IBL, investigate different types of inquiry, and examine the potential benefits for both students and educators.
Module 2: Designing Inquiry-Based Learning Experiences: Learn to craft engaging inquiry-based lessons, develop clear learning objectives, and design meaningful activities that spark student interest.
Module 3: Implementing Inquiry-Based Learning in the Classroom: Discover practical strategies for facilitating student-led inquiry, managing classroom dynamics, and addressing common challenges.
Module 4: Evaluating and Reflecting on Inquiry-Based Learning: Explore methods for assessing student learning, utilise data to inform your instruction, and reflect on your IBL practices for continuous improvement.
Throughout this workshop, you'll have access to a variety of resources, including videos, readings, case studies, and hands-on activities. We encourage you to actively engage with these resources and participate in the learning process.
By the end of this workshop, you will have a deeper understanding of IBL and the confidence to implement inquiry-driven learning experiences in your classroom.
